EMI Music

At EMI the bulk of my time was spent in the Trade Marketing team. One of my responsibilities was the weekly email newsletter that was sent to retailers across the UK, internal staff and some international EMI colleagues.

Frankly this email was rather functional - it contained (very necessary, useful) links to release schedules and product news, but I quickly made the "esounds" newsletter a must-read item because of my witty editorial introduction. Here are a few examples:

EMI Australia were big fans of the esounds newsletter and got in touch with me to write for their music blog, The In Sound From Way Out. Sadly they've moved the brand to exist only on Facebook, so you'll have to take my word for it.

I also wrote for the news section of EMI.com in its original guise (again, off the back of my esounds writing). The site has since morphed into a different design with a vastly-altered objective, but some of my published articles are recreated here.

Furthermore, I edited a fortnightly catalogue magazine - briefing designers on the cover, sub-editing artist features and every catalogue listing in the magazine. I edited 25 issues before it was eventually replaced with a digital version. Lastly I produced a monthly CD sampler from tracklisting and design to production and distribution. If you'd like to meet me then I'll bring some examples along to show you.
